Kansas City Wizards whiffs on a sure goal (VIDEO)

I saw this video on Yahoo yesterday and bust out laughing. I had to watch it about five times. A player for the Wizards last Saturday has the opportunity for an easy goal and a one in a million event takes places denying him the opportunity.

McCaskill slams Goldman Sachs for financial industry failure (AUDIO / VIDEO)

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) took to the U.S. Senate floor after Republicans blocked floor debate on Wall Street reform / regulation legislation.

Republicans contend the measure is too costly and too restrictive.

McCaskill referred to her predecessor, Harry S Truman, and his historic move to regulate spending during his tenure in the Senate and later in the White House.

McCaskill chastised a few of her fellow Democrats who voted alongside Republicans to block debate on the measure. To both parties, she said the American people are not interested in political tic-tac-toe, but rather getting work done and fixing the problems within the financial sector.

Many have credited this quote to Ronald Reagen, she said, but it was actually Harry Truman who said “It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.”

The Senate voted 57-41 on Monday, three short of the 60 votes needed to begin debate. All 41 Republicans voted against the measure, joined by Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.).

MoDOT traffic safety engineer John Miller says the most fatal highways in the state are complete, Interstates 70 and 44. He says those two highways have seen dozens of crossover collisions in years past, about 50 a year, but since the cables have gone in, numbers are hovering around 10.

Howard signing could impact Cardinals/Pujols

I’m sure Cardinals first basemen Albert Pujols was a happy man last night when he heard the news about Philadelphia first basemen Ryan Howard’s new contract extension.

It’s great news for the former Missouri State Bear, who signed a five year extension worth $125 million. Its good news for Pujols, because now he has a comparison he can use with someone who can only come close to what Pujols can do on the field. If Howard can get $125 million for five years, after Matt Holliday got $100 for seven, then what is the price for Pujols?
