Royals come up short against Brew Crew
Jody Gerut doubled in a run, giving him eight RBIs. Joe Inglett, who singled and scored on Gerut’s hit, also had a sacrifice fly. Carlos Gomez went 2-for-4 and Milwaukee beat the Royals 2-0.
Experts predict lots of severe weather followed by hot summer
It’s an El Nina year, and that means more storms and a hot summer ahead if history repeats itself.
Tony Lupo is a professor of atmospheric science at the Univeristy of Missouri. He says a look at the weather in 2002 and 2003 gives us a glimpse of what to expect in the coming months. However, Lupo says last time cold arctic air collided with warm air from the Gulf with an active jet stream, there were 109 tornadoes in the Midwest.
And that’s not all… hail, lightning and flash flooding are bound to be prevalent as well.
Cards silent against Nationals
Ivan Rodriguez singled twice, driving in three runs. Josh Willingham doubled and scored, Ian Desmond had a pair of hits and Justin Maxwell drove in a run with a sacrifice fly as the Nationals beat the Cardinals 4-2.
Rams sign veteran Fraley
The St. Louis Rams added depth at their offensive line when they signed veteran center/guard Hank Fraley.
Fraley (6-3, 310) joins the Rams after four seasons with the Cleveland Browns. He previously spent six years with the Philadelphia Eagles, and Spagnuolo and Rams offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur were on Andy Reid’s staff throughout Fraley’s tenure in Philadelphia. Shurmur was Fraley’s position coach in 2000 and 2001.
