The Kansas City Royals agreed to terms with first baseman Billy Butler and infielder Alberto Callaspo. Butler led the club with a .301 average, 93 RBI and 51 doubles last season. He also hit 21 home runs in tying for sixth in the league with 73 extra-base hits. The first baseman’s 51 doubles were second in the Majors and the second-most all time in Royals history behind Hal McRae’s 54 in 1977. Butler was also the The 2009 A.L. Player of the Month for September.
Cards and Royals spring training update
Temperatures through most of Missouri will get into the 50′s today and maybe even the 60′s this weekend and the start of spring training games get started today with the Royals and Rangers in Arizona and the Cardinals and Mets in Florida.

Saint Louis men’s basketball coach Rick Majerus admitted his team got a little rattled in front of a veteran Temple team last night, letting a tight game slip away losing at home for the second game in a row 57-51 to the 20th ranked Owls.
