Blunt calls Senate campaign in 2010 important for Missouri, country

Long-time Congressman Roy Blunt hopes to keep the United States Senate seat occupied by Senator Bond in Republican hands.

Bond, one of Missouri’s longest serving politicians, announced earlier that he would retire from the United States Senate after three terms. The announcement then set into motion much political maneuvering which only grew in intensity as pitched battles between Democrats and Republicans in Washington, D. C. only emphasized the importance of the seat. Republicans in the US Senate have barely enough seats to maintain filibusters on the Senate floor, preventing Democrats from moving on major pieces of legislation. [Read more...]

New Highway Patrol superintendent wants to build on the present

The Highway Patrol’s new superintendent starts his first full week as “Officer One.” Colonel Ronald Replogle moves up from the Criminal Investigation Bureau, to succeed Colonel James Keathley, who headed the patrol for more than three years. He says he wants to continue Keathley’s progress on making highways as safe as possible, and the patrol’s record of helping local agencies with major crime investigations. Missouri State men 7th for MVC tourney

Northern Iowa, which won an outright Missouri Valley Conference men’s basketball title for the first time in its history, has earned the No. 1 seed for MVC Tournament for the second-straight year.  The Missouri State Bears behind second year coach Cuonzo Martin are 7th.

Mizzou comes up short at K-State

Defense was the name of this game in Manhattan KS on Saturday night as the 6th ranked K-State Wildcats came up with a 63-53 win on a poor shooting night for both teams.
