Columbus defensemen Kris Russell beat Blues goalie Chris Mason with a shot 1:32 into overtime to give the Blue Jackets their first win in St. Louis in nine tries as Columbus edged the Blues 3-2 Saturday night at The Scott.

With the Blues down 2-1, Andy McDonald scored with 1:32 left in regulation to force the OT and was stopped moments before the Columbus game winner as Mathieu Garon shut down McDonald with a game saving stop.

It was a chippy game most of the night, a couple of fights and a lot of extra-curricular activity. Keith Tkachuk became the fourth player in league history to record 2,200 penalty minutes and 1,000 points when he was whistled for high-sticking in the second period. I really thought the Blues outplayed Columbus…they had some great scoring opportunities, but couldn’t quite connect. Blues goalie Chris Mason on made 16 saves while the Blues took 27 shots on goal.

David Backes also scored for the Blues. The Blue Jackets last one in St. Louis on March 27, 2007.
