Alex Steen and Roman Polak each had a goal and an assist, and Chris Mason made 20 saves to give the St. Louis Blues win their season best fourth straight game, 4-1 over the New York Rangers on Saturday night at the Scott.

David Perron and David Backes also scored for the Blues, and Keith Tkachuk had two assists. St. Louis improved to 4-2-1 under coach Davis Payne and have now won three in a row at home. Much better for the team with the worst home ice record.

The Rangers came into this game having been shutout in their last two. Brian Boyle goal snapped a drought of 172 minutes. With the score tied at 1-1, olympian Polak scored 45 seconds into the third period to give the Blues a 2-1 lead. Steen assisted on Polak’s third goal of the year.

The two worked together later in the period when Steen came around the net and backhanded a shot off the Rangers’ goalie after taking Polak’s pass with 8:31 gone by in the final period. David Backes added an empty-netter with 12.1 seconds remaining.  David Perron scored in the first to give the Blues a 1-0 lead.
