Mark McGwire in 2000 (Bill Greenblatt, UPI)

The Pressbox Podcast is back this week. Yeah, took a week or two off, but it was a slow time in Missouri sports until late last week and now on Monday with Mark McGwire admitting to steroid use.

He finally admitted that he used steroids while he played and when he broke baseball’s single season home run record in 1998 in that chase with Sammy Sosa of the Cubs when McGwire broke Roger Maris’ record of 61 homers in a season that many say brought fans back to the game.

My guest this week is Brian Feldman, he’s the Cardinals reporter for 101 ESPN Radio St. Louis. Brian talks about fans reactions in St. Louis and agrees with me that McGwire is not doing this for Hall of Fame votes. Both Brian and I agree that his records should be wiped out of the books.

Plus, we also discuss last week’s signing of Matt Holliday. Is he really worth $120 million over seven years and could the Cardinals have gotten off cheaper.
