State Senators discuss impact of health care reform
It might be another week or so before Capitol Hill lawmakers in Washington get down to determining the look of the final health care reform bill. But state lawmakers in Jefferson City are already talking about it. State Senators are scheduled to take part in an information seminar Tuesday morning at the State Capitol.
Senate Majority Floor Leader Kevin Engler (R-Farmington) says Missouri and other states will pay dearly for this legislation.
“As one of the state’s governors said, ‘It’s the biggest unfunded mandate that’s ever been sent to the states,’” said Engler in a meeting with reporters following Monday’s legislative session. [Read more...]
‘Training for Tomorrow’ pumps funding into community college technical programs
Gov. Jay Nixon today announced a new program he says will train more Missourians in technical fields and put them back to work.
He traveled to two Missouri community colleges to announce Training for Tomorrow, a $12 million initiative to educate Missourians in high-tech fields and get them working in growing industries. Nixon says these grants will help Missouri community colleges create or expand training programs to serve additional students.
Great weekend in the NFL
I just haven’t been into the NFL this season until this weekend. With the Chiefs and Rams struggles the past few seasons, and after the horrible start they got off to, I just couldn’t warm up to it. The NFL playoffs can quickly bring you back.
