Royals sign Scott Podsednik

The Kansas City Royals signed outfielder Scott Podsednik to a one-year deal for 2010 with an option for the 2011 season.   The 33-year old Podsednik led the White Sox last season with a .304 average, hitting 25 doubles, six triples, seven home runs, 48 RBI and 75 runs scored in 132 games. He stole 30 bases, good for eighth in the league, marking his fifth season of 30 or more steals. Podsednik’s 163 hits were the most in the Majors among all players with 132 games or less.

Bail bond industry overhaul recommended

A special task force calls for an overhaul of Missouri’s bail bond industry. The committee, created by the legislature last year, is asking this year’s legislature to make several changes that it thinks will add integrity to the industry. [Read more...]

Chiefs announce Weis as OC for KC

The Chiefs made it official this afternoon that Charlie Weis will become the Chiefs’ new offensive coordinator.  Earlier this week, Haley wouldn’t come out and say for sure that Weis was the guy, but you could tell this was the direction they were headed. There was a rumor it could happen yesterday, but I’m thinking they waited until the BCS title game was complete.

Cards, Holliday make it official

Team owner Bill DeWitt Jr. and general manager John Mozeliak made it official yesterday that Matt Holliday is a Cardinal. Holliday showed off his jersey at a press conference Thursday where it was announced he has signed the largest player contract in franchise history…for now.
