Smith and Big Mac passed up on Hall vote

Andre Dawson, who played with the Cubs and Expos was elected to the Hall of Fame, joining Whitey Herzog who got in on the Veterans Committee vote earlier in December. Pitcher Bert Blyleven and Roberto Alomar fell just short of getting the necessary 405 votes or 75%.

Former legislator T.D. El-Amin sentenced

Former State Representative T.D. El-Amin (D-St. Louis) has been sentenced to 18 months in prison on federal bribery charges. El-Amin has also been ordered to pay $2100 restitution.

Court documents indicate that in March of last year, El-Amin solicited a bribe from a local businessman who had asked for help in dealing with St. Louis city officials in regards to the operations of a gas station. El-Amin took the money in exchange for a pledge to intervene on the businessman’s behalf. [Read more...]

Two Missouri kids to play in All-American Bowl

Two Missouri high school athletes were chosen to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio this Saturday. Both kids have committed to Missouri and have a bright future. Marcus Lucas from Liberty High School, a 6’5 195 receiver committed to Missouri just a couple of weeks ago and Nick Demien, a 6’6 300 pound offensive tackle is from Timberland High School in Wentzville who committed to the Tigers back in August.

Holliday says he’s coming back to St. Louis

Matt Holliday appeared on ESPN radio and said that he is re-signing with the St. Louis Cardinals for seven years, with the money between $119 and $120 million. Cardinals GM John Mozeliak says it will officially announced to the media on Thursday after Holliday passes a physical.

Three Missouri schools in D-II basketball’s top 20

The Central Missouri Mules remain on top, as the rankings do not reflect the games played on Monday, their 10 point loss to Fort Hays State. The Mules will certainly slided as there are eight undefeated teams in the NCAA Division II ranks right behind Central Missouri.
