Deadline for some 2009 tax deductions just days away

Several tax deductions for the 2009 tax year can be made early in 2010 – IRAs for example – but the clock is ticking on other tax break deductions which must be completed by the end of this year.

Chiefs Haley spreads Christmas cheer

For those of you who think Chiefs head coach Todd Haley is one tough son of a gun, there is a soft side to the first year NFL head coach.  Haley was on his way to work on Christmas day when he saw a guy waiting at a bus stop. Haley pulled over and handed the guy a wad of $20 bills and said “Merry Christmas.”

Missouri Lottery gears up for launch of Mega Millions game

mege_millions_logoThe Missouri Lottery is gearing up for the launch of its newest big jackpot game, Mega Millions, which is currently operating in a dozen states. In Missouri, Mega Millions will join Powerball, the nation’s other huge jackpot game, on January 31st.

Dam owners urged to get emergency plans in place

Nationally, about 40 percent of High-Hazard Potential Dams don’t have emergency action plans. In Missouri, that percentage is much higher.

Supported by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, a new dam safety outreach program will assist the Missouri Department of Natural Resources in working with dam owners to get emergency plans in place.

Missouri State hopes to make noise in MVC

The Missouri State Bears look to bounce back following a four point overtime loss to Arkansas when they travel to Evansville to open Missouri Valley Conference play. Second year coach Cuonzo Martin has the Bears sitting at 10-1 after non-conference play.
