Whether legislature can fully fund foundation formula a concern for Ed. Dept.

The legislature enacted a seven-year phase in for full state funding of public school financing five years ago. Whether budget constraints could put a pinch on that schedule remains to be seen.

The state budget is at the forefront of all state agencies’ focus as the legislature prepares to convene in January.

Central Missouri ranked 11th in preseason baseball poll

The Central Missouri Mules baseball team is ranked 11th in the preseason Collegiate Baseball Newspaper NCAA Division II Preseason Coaches Poll. The Mules went 44-15 in 2009 and finished second in the MIAA and NCAA regional tournaments. In two seasons, head coach Tommy Meyers is 91-31 and in 2008, the Mules finished 4th in the D-II World Series.

Pinkel closing Missouri’s borders

Missouri Tiger football could see a Gabbert at quarterback through the 2014 season. That’s because Tyler Gabbert, the younger brother of current quarterback Blaine, has committed to Missouri for next season. Just like big bro, Tyler de-committed from Nebraska and said he’s more comfortable with Missouri’s pass first spread offense.

Blues drill Oilers’ goalie in NHL debut

Alex Steen scored a goal and had three assists and Andy McDonald scored twice as the Blues won for the second consecutive day, beating the Edmonton Oilers 7-2 getting redemptions for a 5-3 loss earlier in December when the Blues blew a three goal lead.
