Blues shutout by the Blackhawks

The St. Louis Blues, the best road team in the NHL came out strong but fizzled in the second game on back to back nights as they could not overcome the first place Chicago Blackhawks losing 3-0.

The Blues were hoping to carry the momentum of a rare home win following their 4-3 win over Calgary on Brett Hull night and the Blues jumped on the Hawks early outshooting the home team 7-2 early on. The Blues finished with 27 shots, but we shutout for the first time at home by Blackhawks goalie Cristobal Huet.

Once the Hawks settled down, they outplayed the Blues getting goals from Troy Brouwer, Brian Campbell and Marian Hossa while one of the Hawks’ young stars Patrick Kane assisted on all three goals. It was the Hawks second shutout in a row at home. The Blue return home to play the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday.
