Christmas tree lifted from truck

The large Christmas tree that will stand tall outside the Governor’s Mansion throughout the holiday season is in place after being hoisted onto the grounds by a crane and secured by Missouri Department of Conservation officials.

This year’s tree is a Norway Spruce donated by Jim Weber of Centralia. Justine Gartner, the Department’s Forestry Field Programs Supervisor, says finding a beautiful tree for the Governor’s Mansion is not easy to do. [Read more...]

Weis out at ND…is KC his next stop?

After the Notre Dame Fighting Irish finished 6-6, losing their last four games of the season, the school let head coach Charlie Weis go after five seasons and a 35-27 record overall. It seems obvious that Weis will head back to the NFL as an offensive coordinator…how about Kansas City.

Cardinals sign LaRue to back Molina, plus minor leaguer

The St. Louis Cardinals re-signed veteran catcher Jason LaRue to a one-year contract for the 2010 season. The 35 year old will back up Yadier Molina once again. This will be LaRue’s third year with the Cardinals. He hit .240 last year in 51 games.  He started 10 of the final 18 games down the stretch and hit .286 in the month of September.

MU’s Ampudia is Big 12 Newcomer of the Year

Missouri Tiger volleyball player Paola Ampudia was named the unanimous Big 12 Newcomer of the Year by the league’s 11 head coaches. She also landed on the All-Big 12 First Team as well, marking the first Tiger to appear on this list since Jessica Vander Kooi did so back in 2006. Ampudia was also one of three finalists for Big 12 Player of the Year this season.

Missouri State’s Leonard is Newcomer of the Week

Missouri State’s Adam Leonard of the men’s basketball team was named Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week. Leonard scored a career-high 24 points in the Bears’ win over previously-unbeaten Tulsa on Saturday at JQH Arena.
