There’s home cooking in college hoops…WHAT?

Happy Thanksgiving. That’s what I need to say first. I’m got turkey on my mind this week and that led me to thinking about home cooking calls from college basketball refs. Just as we suspected, refs tend to favor the home team when it comes to calling fouls. That is according to a study done by a couple of professors who studied 365 college basketball games from 2004-05.

Mizzou rocks the Mocs

The Missouri Tigers improved to 3-0 after hot three point shooting led to a 31 point first half lead and an easy 99-56 win over the Mocs of Chattanooga on Tuesday night at Mizzou Arena.  The Tigers defense also set a team record by coming up with 24 steals.

Pujols win NL MVP Award

Pujols connects for a home run in August.  Bill Greenblatt UPISt. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols has won his third MVP award. It was a clean sweep of first place votes. This is Pujols’ third MVP having won last year and in 2005. He is the second Cardinal to win three MVPs prior to his 30th birthday. The other was Stan ‘The Man’ Musial. Barry Bonds also won three before 30. Bonds won a total of seven MVPs.

Pujols was followed by Hanley Ramirez of Florida who had 15 second place votes. Ryan Howard, a native of St. Louis and former Missouri State Bear was third, followed by Prince Fielder of Milwaukee who was fourth.

Albert answers questions, Bill Greenblatt, UPIPujols hit .327 with an on-base percentage of .443. He hit 47 home runs with 135 RBI in 160 games.  Pujols is just the 10th player in major league history to have won three MVP awards.

#2 Central Missouri beats Rockhurst at CBE Classic

With their new No. 2 national ranking, the Central Missouri Mules came on strong in the second half to beat Rockhurst University 79-66 at the Sprint Center in Kansas City as a part of the CBE Classic.
