The Kansas City Royals have agreed to terms with right-handed pitcher Brad Thompson to a minor league contract for the 2010 season.  Thompson who is 27 years old was a versatile arm for the Cardinals over the past five seasons making 185 appearance, with 32 of those being starts.
Thompson was 21-17 with a 4.36 ERA.

This past season he fell out of good graces with manager Tony Larussa when he went 2-6 with a 4.84 ERA in 32 games, including eight starts.  If Thompson makes the major league roster, he could be a valuable arm for the Royals filling in the same role that he did in St. Louis.  If he can find the form that earned him the Cardinals’ rookie of the year honor is 2005, this will be a great pickup for Kansas City.
