Haley says cutting LJ isn’t “any one thing”

In a press release posted on their website Monday morning, the Kansas City Chiefs announced that they have released running back Larry Johnson who was set to return from his suspension. Johnson’s latest episode involved him bashing the Chiefs’ head coach Todd Haley on his twitter page. He also used a gay slur on that account and in the Chiefs locker room.

Todd Haley spoke this afternoon and commented on the situation.  Haley talked about  this not being about  any one incident that got him released.  Haley says he will look at himself and his staff for failing to get the best out of Johnson.  Haley was asked if the team been better off without Johnson since he was suspended two weeks ago?  Haley also stated this had nothing to do with Johnson closing in on being the Chiefs all-time rushing leader?

He also had 151 receptions for 1,369 yards (9.1 avg.) with six TDs.  His career with the Chiefs ends with 30 100-yard rushing games and also added two 100-yard receiving games.  He was just 75 yards away from becoming the Chiefs’ all-time leading rusher.

Johnson established an NFL single-season record with 416 rushing attempts in 2006 when he set a franchise single-season mark with 1,789 rushing yards. He originally entered the league as the Chiefs first-round selection (27th overall) in the 2003 NFL Draft out of Penn State.

State Health Department approves chocolate milk campaign

The creators of the “Got Milk?” campaign have launched the “Raise your hand for chocolate milk” campaign. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services believes that while it would be preferable to have children drinking milk without the added calories, it gives this new campaign its blessing.

“The chocolate has its naysayers – there’s more sugar and more calories in it,” said Denny Spurling, Bureau Chief of the State Health Department’s Bureau of Health Promotion. “The opposing side from that says, yeah, but there’s some kids that don’t like milk, they probably won’t drink milk unless you have it chocolate.” [Read more...]

Missouri Missing helps in searches, Olten case

The group Missouri Missing helps raise awareness about the nearly 13 hundred people missing in our state.

The two founders of Missouri Missing — Marianne Asher Chapman and Peggy Florence — formed the group after finding limited community resources when their daughters went missing.

Florence’s daughter, Jasmine Haslag, was in her late twenties when she went missing more than two years ago.

Asher Chapman’s daughter, Michelle Angela Yarnell, “Angie,” has been gone for about six years now. She was also in her twenties. Her husband has allegedly admitted to murdering her, but Acher Chapman says her body’s never been found and so she still considers her missing.

Asher Chapman says the group assisted in the recent Elizabeth Olten case in Central Missouri.
