House Armed Services Committee Chairman Ike Skelton of Missouri says the most shocking thing about the shootings at Fort Hood, Texas is that a fellow soldier did it.

He says that many soldiers and their families will struggle to deal with that fact. He calls on the nation to provide emotional and physical support in the weeks ahead. Skelton says the nation is responsible to insure that they have the resources they need to make a full recovery.

He says the shootings add greater stress to military families and their families already under great stress because their family members are soon to be deployed.

Skelton says it is not appropriate to speculate about why the shootings happened. He says the Army should be allowed to finish its investigations as quickly as possible

Skelton presents resolution in House 4:28
