Missouri State wins preseason opener over UMSL

Missouri State got at least six points from all 11 players in uniform to roll past visiting Missouri-St. Louis here Monday night in the exhibition season opener for both clubs, 84-48. The Bears led by as many as 40 points midway through the second half, but the visitors from the Division II ranks never stopped fighting in a physical battle on both ends.

Northwest Missouri State-Central Missouri set to square off

This promises to be one of the top Division II football matchups this year in the state of Missouri, if not the entire country. The Northwest Missouri State Bearcats, ranked third in the nation travels to Warrensburg to take on 16th ranked Central Missouri. Playoff implications for both teams ride heavily on this game.

Missouri Western kicker grabs weekly honor

Cameron, Missouri native and junior kicker Brad Beckwith of the Missouri Western Griffons was named MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week.  Beckwith had the best day of his career. Beckwith hit a career-high three field goals in a game as he hit from 35, 41 and 18 yards. Beckwith kicked off six times for 393 yards, an average of 65.5 yards per kickoff, with one touchback.

American Heart Association kicks off “Eating Healthy Day”

The American Heart Association is asking Missourians to make healthier eating choices … and start walking.

The American Heart Association is kicking off its “Eating Healthy Day” tomorrow. Spokeswoman Becky Collier says employers can take the lead in giving employees better options.

The Heart Association is recognizing businesses in Missouri this week that set up walking programs in their building, offer work-out time and equipment and encourage healthy eating and an active lifestyle.
