The Rams ended their losing streak at 17, beating the Detroit Lions 17-10 at Ford Field. OK, it was Detroit, but it was still a win and the first for head coach Steve Spagnuolo. The ironic part of the win is it came with former Rams’ coach Scott Linehan calling plays for the Lions.

The Linehan led Lions’ offense managed just 289 total yards and didn’t score a touchdown until early in the fourth quarter on QB Matthew Stafford’s four yard run. A two point conversion made it a 10-10 ball game.

With 2:26 to play, Stephen Jackson had two big runs that drove the Rams down 63 yards in four plays, for the go ahead and eventual game winning touchdown. Jackson had runs of 17 and a 25 yarder for the touchdown. Jackson, one of the top ball carriers in the league despite the Rams 1-7 record picked up 149 on 22 carries.

The Rams went up 3-0 on a Josh Brown field goal in the first quarter. Defensive back James Butler picked off Stafford at the two yard line when the Lions were driving, but ran into the end zone and was tackled for a safety. Up 3-2, the Rams were faced with a 4th and 8 from Detroit’s 36. It looked like the Rams were going to go for the first down, but Marc Bulger called timeout. Josh Brown lined up for the field goal, but instead threw a pass to Daniel Fells who slipped past the Detroit defenders and went in untouched for a 36 yard touchdown.
