Today it’s sometimes called “vertical integration.” A century ago there was another word—”trust.” Missouri’s junior senator thinks it’s about time for some old-fashioned “trust-busting.”

AUDIO: McCaskill on anti-trust

Acquisitions, mergers, consolidations in finance, farming, insurance, energy, and other commerce have some business critics saying the result is less competition that leads to a less diverse marketplace for producers and less choice for consumers.

Independent agriculture producers complain big operators that control research, production, processing, and marketing are controlling prices and limiting competition. Senator McCaskill says the antitrust division of the Justice Department needs to get busy for the first time in a long time.

Rams finally get a win

The Rams ended their losing streak at 17, beating the Detroit Lions 17-10 at Ford Field. OK, it was Detroit, but it was still a win and the first for head coach Steve Spagnuolo. The ironic part of the win is it came with former Rams’ coach Scott Linehan calling plays for the Lions.

The cooler weather is moving into Missouri and many homeowners are thinking of winterizing their homes. The Internal Revenue Service wants people to know there are some big tax savings for those who save energy through their efforts to winterize.

The Missouri Tigers put together their best rushing game of the season and jumped out to a huge first half lead to help grab their first Big 12 win of the season 36-17 over the Colorado Buffaloes.

#3 Bearcats beat Ft. Hays State

Blake Bolles passed for five touchdowns, Jake Soy caught four touchdowns and LaRon Council rushed for three scores as third-ranked Northwest Missouri State beat Fort Hays State 66-40 Saturday at Lewis Field.
