Ilya Bryzgalov and the Phoenix Coyotes took care of the St. Louis Blues for their sixth victory in eight games. The Coyotes goalie made 32 saves for his NHL-leading third shutout of the season, and Daniel Winnik and Taylor Pyatt scored in Phoenix’s 2-0 victory Thursday night at the Scott.

Deep drop in state revenue leads to deep budget cuts
State officials hope they have made the final budget cuts for this fiscal year, though the state budget director says it’s hard to overstate how bad the budget is.

Chiefs suspend LJ for two weeks
Kansas City Chiefs starting running back Larry Johnson was suspended for two weeks by the team for what’s being termed “conduct detrimental to the team.” He has to stay away from the team until November 9th. Johnson’s agent says the player will appeal the suspension that will cost him $660,000. Larry Johnson’s agent Peter Schaffer told the Kansas City Star in an e-mail that the player and the Chiefs are working on a settlement to decide the player’s future although he said that doesn’t necessarily mean leaving the team.
