High school softball state championship

On Saturday the state softball championships were held in St. Joseph at Heritage Park. Congratulations in Class 1 to Clopton, Class 2 Blair Oaks, Class 3 Notre Dame Cape Girardeau and Class 4 Jefferson City. There was a wild finish in that Class 4 final between Jeff City and Oakville. The Lady Jays won 2-1 scoring both runs on a failed pick off attempt in the seventh inning. Notre Dame Cape’s Lauren Reinagel pitched a perfect game in their Class 3 title game victory of Kirksville. Blair Oaks rolled through the playoffs not allowing a single run since the start of district play and Clopton advanced and won with a pair of 2-0 wins over Bevier and Jefferson.

CLASS 3
Notre Dame (Cape Girardeau) def. Platte County- 4-2
Kirksville def. Republic- 1-0 (10 inn.)
Third-place game- Platte County def. Republic – 2-0
Championship game- Notre Dame (Cape Girardeau) def. Kirksville – 2-0

CLASS 4
Oakville def. Kearney- 7-5
Jefferson City def. Parkway Central – 9-1
Third-place game- Kearney def. Parkway Central – 2-0
Championship game – Jefferson City def. Oakville – 2-1
