Northwest Missouri State athletics will hold its annual ‘M’ Club Hall of Fame induction ceremony at 7 p.m. Friday in the J.W. Jones Student Union Ballroom located on Northwest’s campus. The event is free and open to the public. The 2009 induction class will include Jill (Quast) Hansen (volleyball, softball), Onofrio Monochino (football, basketball, track/field), Bill Sobbe (baseball, basketball), Allan Borkowski (wrestling) and the 2001-02 men’s basketball team. With the 2009 class, the ‘M’ Club Hall of Fame includes 94 individuals and 37 teams. The first year of individual inductions was 1980, and teams were inducted beginning in 1989.
Tarkio dropping to 8-man football
Sighting declined enrollment and participation in football, the Tarkio, MO. Board of Education plans to drop from an 11-man football program to an 8-man football progam at the start of the 2010-2011 school year. If Tarkio remained in 11-man, it would have been one of the smallest schools. Now with a reported 126 students, it will become one of the biggest 8-man teams.
McCaskill favors one-time check, not increase
Next year could be the first year since 19-73 that Social Security recipients do not get a cost of living increase.
Senator McCaskill says another five-and-a-half increase such as the one approved last year does not make sense in the current economy. She thinks Social Security recipients should get a little more money, but not a cost of living increase. [Read more...]
