Missing St. Martins girl found dead

The search for a missing 9-year-old girl from St. Martins, near Jefferson City, ends in tragedy with the discovery of the body of Elizabeth Olten.

Police found the youngster’s body around 3 o’clock Friday afternoon. They were led to the body by a teenager who is described as a person of interest. The body was found in an area in which search crews had been looking for the missing child.

You need to get out and play in the rain

As I was driving home with my son and daughter from school and their friends piled into the minivan, my son said he was going to finish his homework right away because he said “Today is the perfect day.” So I asked for what. He replied with big smile on his face, “FOOTBALL.”

EPA issues new guidelines for meth lab cleanup

The Environmental Protection Agency has issued new guidelines for meth lab cleanups. However, the Missouri Highway Patrol says that doesn’t change things for our state.
Missouri has long carried the nefarious title of the No. 1 meth state in the U.S. Because of that, aggressive measures were put into place long ago to combat the problem.

LaRussa could make decision soon

Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he knows the team needs a decision on his future soon and he will notify the team, possibly as early as this weekend, about whether or not he will return.

High school softball championships start today

The semifinals in the four classes of girls high school softball semifinal games begin this morning at 11am at Heritage Park in St. Joseph. Following are the matchups and game times along with directions to the fields. Temperatures will be in the 40’s today with just a 10% chance of rain.
