Gov. Nixon pushes to limit campaign cash

Governor Nixon says that campaign contribution limits could end allegations of “pay to play” at the state Capitol.

A Kansas City Star investigation suggests former House Speaker Rod Jetton, now a political consultant, steers campaign donations to politicians who push through favorable legislation. The Star calls Jetton a consultant famous for behind-the-scenes maneuvering who has attracted the attention of the FBI which is questioning lawmakers about allegations that contributions are required before legislative action is taken.

Chiefs trade Tank to Panthers, Avery’s MRI negative

Another draft pick from the Herm Edwards’ era in Kansas City is gone. Late Monday, the Chiefs traded three year veteran nose tackle Tank Tyler to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for Carolina’s fifth round pick in next year’s draft.  Tyler started the first two games of the year, but since then has backed up Ron Edwards who has moved into the starting role and has played better and better each week.

Howard tearing it up in NL playoffs

Alright, this is how I decide who I cheer for in the baseball playoffs…when one of my teams are not involved. First, I always go for the Midwest teams. That mean’s St. Louis, Kansas City (just go with me on this one) Minnesota, Milwaukee, both Chicago teams, maybe Detroit. I then automatically eliminate the Mets or Yankees…certainly the Yankees. Then, no California teams whatsoever. There are freaks that live on the West Coast, I’m not giving into them. I’m partial for the Midwest. Yes, it’s crazy, but fan is short for fanatical. So, what do I do when there are three CA. teams, the Yankees, and no Midwest clubs? Cheer for the Phillies.

Can the Tigers even compete with Texas?

The Missouri Tigers and certainly head coach Gary Pinkel are not going to make excuses for the team’s 0-2 start in Big 12 play. They knew when the schedule first came out that the Big 12 portion of the schedule was front loaded with nationally ranked teams in Nebraska, Tech, and now this week against Texas.

CMSU drops, Mo. Western and NWMS move up D-II polls

After defeating their third ranked opponent in five weeks the Missouri Western Griffons moved up three spots to 12th in the latest American Football Coaches’ Association Division II Poll. The Griffons also moved up one spot in the Super Regional Four Poll to third.
