The Missouri Tigers fall to 0-2 in Big 12 play and 4-2 overall as they were downed 33-17 by the Oklahoma State Cowboys before 55,572 fans Saturday night at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

The Tigers struck first on their opening drive on the opening drive of the game as quarterback Blaine Gabbert drove Mizzou to the Oklahoma State 2 yard line before Coach Gary Pinkel opted to go for the field goal on 4th down. The Tigers came away with 3 points as Grant Ressel booted a 21 yard field goal to put MU up 3-0.

The Cowboys responded with a score on their first drive, with Keith Toston scoring a touchdown, on the ground, to cap a 10 play, 79 yard TD march down the field. Dan Bailey’s extra point made it OSU 7, Missouri 3.

The 1st quarter ended with OSU up 7-3 and Missouri knocking at the door with a first down and goal from the Cowboy 8 yard line.

Three plays later the Tigers went up 10-7 as Derrick Washington ran it in from a yard out to cap a 9 play drive that started on the Missouri 3 yard line and Ressel added the extra point.

The Tiger defense played tough but the Missouri offense let down about midway through the 2nd quarter as Blaine Gabbert’s pass from deep in his own territory was picked off by safety Lucien Antoine who ran it back 26 yards for a major. Bailey’s extra point made it Oklahoma State 14, Missouri 10.

The Tigers bounced back on their next series as they took the lead on a 5 play, 72 yard touchdown drive that was climaxed by a Gabbert to Danario Alexander 48 yard TD pass. Ressel’s PAT put Mizzou back on top, 17-14.

A Bailey field goal from 39 yards out tied the score at 17 with about 3 and a half minutes to go in the 1st half.

Oklahoma State took the lead with just 2 seconds to go in the half as quarterback Zac Robinson fired an 8 yard TD pass to Keith Hubert Anyiam to cap a 9 play, 54 yard scoring drive. Bailey’s extra point allowed OSU to take a 24-17 lead to the locker room at the half.

OSU added to the lead with just under 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter as Bailey connected on a 48 yard field goal to make it Oklahoma State 27, Missouri 17. That’s how the 3rd quarter ended.

The Pokes added 3 more with 13:56 to play in the 4th quarter as Bailey hit from 51 yards to make it OSU 30, Missouri 17.

Things only got worse for the Tigers as the ensuing kickoff was fumbled and the Cowboys took over at the MU 21. OSU settled for a Bailey 36 yard field goal to make the score Oklahoma State 33, Missouri 17. And that’s how it would end.

The Tigers had their troubles with the ground game, picking up just 68 net yards rushing. OSU’s Keith Toston, alone, had 87 net yards for the Cowboy. Mizzou did rack up decent yardage in the air as Blaine Gabbert completed 22 of 44 passing attempts, but he and the team were hurt by 3 interceptions.

Next up for the Tigers is the homecoming match-up against the Texas Longhorns on Saturday at Faurot Field.
