Jobless rate holds steady

Missouri’s unemployment rate has not increased and the rate of job loss has slowed. But state officials are not ready to say a trend is developing.

The jobless rate for September holds at 9.5 percent….the same rate as August. For the seventh straight month, Missouri’s rate is lower than the national rate, which was 9.8. The Department of Economic Development says the state jobless rate has held at 9.3 to 9.5 percent for four months after a sharp climb earlier this year. [Read more...]

State Senator alleges cover-up in Lake of the Ozarks E. coli probe

A State Senator heading a committee looking into the release of E. coli testing results at the Lake of the Ozarks claims there has been an organized cover-up. Senator Brad Lager (R-Savannah) says the Department of Natural Resources has played a key role in standing in the way of the committee that is learning why the release of the results was delayed.

“Since this review began in late July, early August, clearly DNR has made every effort to make this a difficult process,” said Lager in an interview with the Missourinet.

Lager has no doubt this is intentional.

“As we requested emails, as we asked for interviews of employees – all the things that should be very simple when the legislative body is working with a department – there has been time and time again when they have done everything they can to try to derail this process,” said Lager.

Limbaugh out

Adam Schefter of ESPN.com first reported that that St. Louis Blues’ owner Dave Checketts has pulled Rush Limbaugh from the group that has interest in putting a bid in on the St. Louis Rams.

This news comes just a couple of days after it was reported that Indianapolis owner Robert Irsay would not approve a bid from a group that included Limbaugh. 24 of the league’s 32 owners must approve any sale of an NFL team.

Rush under pressure to punt on ownership

If the group that Rush Limbaugh is involved with becomes a potential buyer of the St. Louis Rams, they could meet some roadblocks from NFL owners. 24 of the 32 owners must approve the sale and according to multiple sources, Colts owner Jimmy Irsay has already come out and said he would vote against Limbaugh’s group.

Mizzou basketball picked 7th in Big 12

Where’s the love? After setting a school record with 31 wins, capturing the Big 12 Conference Tournament and making it to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament, the Missouri Tiger men’s basketball team was picked 7th in the Big 12′s Preseason Coaches Poll.
