Cards’ GM will have little rest before looking ahead

General Manager John Mozeliak will take a couple of days to decompress from this stunning sweep by Los Angeles, but now his job really begins as he must put together a team and staff for 2010.

The main questions. Will Tony LaRussa and pitching Dave Duncan return? Can the Cardinals bring back Mark DeRosa and Matt Holliday? Is there a need for John Smolt? There were a lot of positives and Mozeliak tries to find those, but he’s ready to get to work.

Griffons win on the road at Truman

The Missouri Western defense sacked the Truman State quarterback five times and forced two turnovers in a 38-14 victory over the Bulldogs in Kirksville, Mo. The Griffon offense accumulated more than 400 yards of total offense for the fourth time this season with 418 today.

Northwest Missouri State beats Southern

Sixth-ranked Northwest Missouri State outscored Missouri Southern 38-0 and outgained the Lions 355-54 in the first half to cruise to a 52-6 win Saturday at Bearcat Stadium. It’s the 15th straight win in the series for the Bearcats, who won their 33rd straight game in MIAA play.

Tony tinkers with Cardinals’ lineup

In hopes of extending this first round playoff series against the Dodgers, Tony LaRussa is changing up his lineup for game three tonight at Busch Stadium. The early advantage could go to L.A.’s starter tonight.
