Bond quits panel over dispute with Obama Administration

Senator Bond has resigned from a special panel formed to review CIA detention and interrogation policies.

Bond quit in response to conflicts with the Obama Administration. Bond says the decision by Attorney General Eric Holder to investigate the interrogation practices of the CIA during the Bush Administration interferes with the work of members from the Senate Intelligence Committee to review interrogation policies and suggest changes.

Bond is vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Holder has appointed a federal prosecutor to review the legality of CIA interrogation techniques used during the Bush Administration. Bond says CIA officials will refuse to be candid with the panel, because of worries their testimony could be used in federal prosecutions.

Callahan chosen as eastern district federal prosecutor

Cole County Circuit Judge Richard Callahan has been nominated by President Obama to be the next federal prosecutor in St. Louis.

Callahan, who served for years as county prosecutor in Jefferson City, will need to be confirmed by the Senate to begin serving as the new US Attorney for Eastern Missouri . Callahan has handled some high-profile cases since becoming Cole County Circuit Judge in 2002. He threw out the state voter ID law approved by lawmakers and upheld the legislature’s new school funding formula. The State Supreme Court confirmed his rulings in both cases.

Callahan is from St. Louis and moved to Jefferson City as a special prosecutor in 1979. He was elected Cole County prosecutor in 1986. He is a Democrat and is 62-years-old.

Chiefs Head to Philly For Eagles and Vick

The Kansas City Chiefs will be looking for their first win of the season tomorrow when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field.  This will be the first time since 2005 that these two teams have met in the regular season.

The Chiefs come into the game with a record of 0 and 2, while the Eagles bring a 1 and 1 record into the contest.

Last week was an especially tough loss for the Chiefs, as they dominated the Oakland Raiders in total offense, first downs, rushing yards and time of possession.

The Eagles are coming off a blowout loss last week to New Orleans.  Philadelphia won its first game of the season by beating Carolina.

Kansas City quarterback Matt Cassel is expected to start once again.  He was 24 of 39 for 241 yards, with one touchdown pass and two interceptions.  Cassel was playing in his first game of the season as he did not play in the loss against Baltimore.

This will be the sixth ever regular season meeting between the Chiefs and the Eagles with Philadeplhia holding a 3-2 advantage in the series.  The Chiefs did beat the Eagles in a regular season game at the old Veteran’s Stadium in 1998.

Kick off for tomorrow afternoon’s game is set for noon.

Rams Take On Pack In Home Opener

The St. Louis Rams will be looking for their first win of the season when they play their home opener tomorrow afternoon at the Edward Jones Dome.  Despite their 0-2 mark on the season, the Rams did sell out the dome for their game against the Green Bay Packers.

St. Louis was in a dogfight last Sunday in Maryland against the Washington Redskins as defense was the word of the day for both teams.  But in the end, the Redskins would beat the Rams 9-7.

The Packers come into the game with a record of 1-1 on the season.  This will be the first road game for Green Bay who beat Chicago in week one, but lost last week to Cinncinnati.

So far this season, Rams running back Stephen Jackson has rushed for 171 yards, but has no rushing touchdowns.  Marc Bulger will be looking to improve his play as he has thrown for 316 yards and just one touchdown pass this season.  But, Bulger has yet to throw an interception this season.

About 20 minutes before the kick off, there will be a pre game ceremony to retire the number 75 jersey of former Ram David ‘Deacon’ Jones.  Jones was part of the fearsome foursome for the then Los Angeles Rams in the early 1960′s.

Kick for tomorrow’s game is set for noon.

This game could show some offensive fireworks as the Lions and Pioneers, so far this season, have combined to average 109 points a game and nearly 1100 yards of total offense for each of their three games.

Lindenwood’s big play offense will be led by Denodus O’Bryant out of Washington, who is averaging 17.6 yards per carry.
