Kyle Davies gave up six runs in his five innings of work, and the Royals who never quit fighting and clawing couldn’t quite catch the Twins and lose 8-7 Saturday.  Davies gave up six runs on just four hits and three walks.

David DeJesus, Miguel Olivo, and Yuniesky Bentancourt each drove in two runs for the Royals who closed the game to 3-2 in the fifth.  After falling behind 6-2, the Royals came back to make it 6-4, then 7-6 in the seventh and 8-7 in the ninth before getting the door closed.

Nearly 34,000 fans packed the stadium.  It’s great to see support for this team that has now lost three in a row and have fallen 28 games under .500 for the first time since the end of the 2006 season when they finished  62-100 record. With 40 games left, they’d have to go at least 16-24 to avoid another 100-loss season.
