The Kansas City Royals could not keep their winning streak going as one long inning leads to a nine to four loss to the Oakland Athletics.

Things started out good for Royals starter Brian Bannister with an easy first.  After that, the Athletics would get single runs in the second and third, and five in the fourth.  He would last just four innings giving up seven runs on seven hits and striking out just one batter.

The Royal bats would come alive as they would pound out 14 hits.  Kansas city would get on the board in the second on a single by Yuniesky Betancourt which scored Mark Teahen.  In the fourth, Betancourt would score after a triple by David DeJesus.  A Mike Jacobs single would bring home one more run in the fifth.  Kansas City would finish their scoring for the night in the sixth when Betancourt would score yet again, this time on a double by David DeJesus.

Zack Greinke will be after win number 11 as the teams play game two of the series tonight at Kaufmann.  The Athletics will send Clayton Mortensen to the hill.  First pitch is 6:10.
