The St. Louis Cardinals roster could be in flux over the next couple of weeks.  With the return of one middle infielder pending, another one will miss at least three games and even more.

Brendan Ryan left Thursday night’s game against the Dodgers after fouling a ball off of his ankle in the second inning.  Trainer Barry Weinberg came out to look at Ryan who stayed in the game, but could barely run to first.  The team is saying Ryan will miss this weekend against Houston and maybe longer.

In the meantime, while he won’t head to a starting role, the Cardinals could have infielder Khalil Greene back from his second stint on the DL from anxiety disorder.  Greene is tearing up AAA pitching, hit .345 in 15 games at Memphis.

Troy Glaus has played one game at Memphis and had another setback in his return.  Glaus has a back strain as he hoped to come back from shoulder surgery.  With his latest ailment, the Cardinals now have no timetable and when Glaus will return.

What hurts even more is with DeRosa already at third base and several other backups, the Cardinals could have traded Glaus, but that will not happen now before Friday’s 3pm deadline.
