Chicago White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle moved to 8-2 on the year and now 20-8 lifetime against the Royals as he pitched 8.1 innings to lead Chicago to a 4-1 win in the opening game of this four game set in Kansas City.

It’s been the same old story for the Royals.  They get good starting pitching, but no offense.  Bruce Chen, making his second start for the Royals did alright tossing six innings allowing just two runs while striking out five.

The game belong to Buehrle.  He’s not overpowering, he only had one strikeout, but he works fast and when he’s on he keeps the ball down.  The Royals got two doubles from Mitch Maier and Alberto Callaspo in the eighth, but prior to that the Royals managed just four singles with three of those base runners out on double plays.  Buehrle did not allow a walk.  It was his longest outing since he pitched a no-hitter in April of 2007.

Mitch Maier comments on Buehrle and Bruce Chen talks about his outing, plus Ozzie Guillen, manager of the Sox talks about Buehrle’s bid for the All-Star game and Buerhle and his outing and success over the Royals
