The Kansas City Wizards played the Mexican soccer club team Atlas in an exhibition game on Sunday at Hermann Stadium on the campus of St. Louis University under a blazing sun and 93 degree temperatures.

Over 5,200 fans stayed for three hours to watch a 0-0 tie.  Why, I’m still wondering, but things were so bad that the referee stopped the match in each half for a water break.

When asked how the weather affected the players, Wizards coach Curt Onalfo said, "they were probably ready to pass out."  In fact, one of the Wizards needed to leave in the first half from heat exhaustion.
