The Missouri State Fair offers lots of new attractions this year.

Marketing Director Tammie Nichols says there’s a new focus on science and technology this year, including one "experiment" that should be a blast. Missouri will attempt to recapture the world record for the largest Mentos and soda launch, with children doing the honors.

Nichols says the entire exhibit side of the fair will also be expanded.

Other new features include green living booths and presentations, a country living expo that provides gardening tips and more for both urban and rural residents and expanded 4-H programs.

The fair runs Aug. 13 through 22 in Sedalia.

Traditional favorites: concerts, the midway, races, farm animals, tractor pulls and more will also be on tap.

Concert tickets for the fair lineup went on sale Saturday, and Nichols says quality entertainment at an affordable price has something for everyone. Just a few of the musical artists slated to peform include Kansas — a free show, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Shinedown, Brooks & Dunn and many others.
