An 11-run fourth inning for Texas helped the Longhorns to a 12-7 win over Missouri in Sunday’s Big 12 Championship game at Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City. It is the fourth Big 12 Conference Tournament Championship for Texas.

Missouri scored the first run of the game in the top of the first inning, which opened with senior Austin Holt being hit by a pitch to lead off the game. He stole second and moved to third when the throw from UT catcher Preston Clark skipped into centerfield. Junior Greg Folgia then singled to drive in Holt with the first run of the game.

Texas would then score the next 12 runs, starting with a home run by Clark to open the bottom of the third inning. The Longhorns then scored 11 runs in the fourth inning, sending 15 batters to the plate. They had six hits in third, highlighted by a grand slam by Cameron Rupp. Following Rupp’s homer, Brandon Loy tripled and Kevin Keyes doubled to drive in Loy with the 11th run of the frame. A pair of walks and three hit batters also aided the big fourth inning for UT.

The Tigers tried to cut into the lead, scoring three times in the top of the fifth inning, plating runs on a triple by Holt, a single by senior Ryan Lollis and a sacrifice fly by Folgia. They added three runs in the ninth, aided by four walks in the inning.

Mizzou had just four hits for the third-straight game. Folgia had three RBI on Sunday, finishing 1-for-3 in the game.

With its appearance in Sunday’s game, Missouri became the first school in Big 12 history to play in the football, men’s basketball and baseball championship games in the same academic year. The MU soccer and softball teams also played in their conference championship games this season. This was the Tigers second trip to the Big 12 Baseball Championship game. They lost to Oklahoma State in their first Big 12 title game in 2004.

The selections for the NCAA Tournament will be announced at 11:30 a.m. CT on Monday on ESPN. The Tigers will host a watch party for the selection show at the Clinton Club in Mizzou Arena. Doors will open at 11 a.m.
