Despite a two and a half hour rain delay before the start of Friday night’s Royals-Orioles game, fans stuck around to watch Zack Greinke work his magic again as he picked up his 7 th win of the season in an 8-1 final snapping a six game losing streak.

Greinke had nasty stuff again going seven innings while striking out seven.  His ERA only moved up from 0.51 to 0.60.  His seven wins ties Roy Halladay for the major league lead.  The Orioles put pressure on Greinke with five hits in the first three innings, but the Orioles’ only run came in the third after a Brian Roberts double and stolen base was followed by an Aubrey Huff single.  At one point in the game, Greinke retired 13 in a row.

Jose Guillen helped get the Royals going with a two run single in the first inning.  The fourth inning was huge for the Royals when Mike Jacobs led off the inning with a homer off Adam Eaton and Alberto Callaspo hit a three run shot.

Relievers Juan Cruz and Kyle Farnsworth worked scoreless innings with Farnsworth now going 10 straight innings without giving up a run.  However, as you may know, I’m not a big fan of Farnsworth and I want to see more scoreless innings when he needs to come with the tying run on base in the 7 th or 8 th and he shuts the door.
