Howie Kendrick’s routine fly ball to right glanced off the glove of right fielder Jose Guillen and Kendrick came all the way around for a two run inside the park home run.  That led to the Angels 4-1 win, snapping the Royals’ six game losing streak.

That came in the bottom of the 6th after the Royals scored their only run of the night off Angels’ starter Matt Palmer.  Palmer is from the Bootheel town of Caruthersville, MO and is 3-0 after pitching 5.1 innings allowing just two hits and three walks while striking out five.

The lone run he gave up came on an RBI double from Billy Butler that scored David DeJesus.  Gil Meche took the loss, but pitched well.  After giving up single runs in the 2nd and 3rd, Meche went 5.2 innings giving up eight hits, three walks and seven strikeouts.

As far as Guillen’s mishap in right, he told kcroyals.com, "I just missed it…closed the glove.  There’s no excuse, I just messed up."  The Royals will look to Zack Greinke who is 6-0 to get back on the win track in game two of the series Saturday night.
