I found a cool article on the Missouri Tiger pitching staff that I wanted to share with you as they prepare for their weekend series up in Lincoln, Nebraska with the Cornhuskers.  Manager Tim Jamieson is taking a different approach to handling his pitchers.

If you follow baseball, such as the Royals or Cardinals, you’re aware that big league teams have a starting rotation made up of five pitchers who start every fifth game.  You may also be aware that most pitchers are held to a 100 pitch count.

In college ball it’s a little different.  While a team doesn’t want to lose games, they must save their best pitchers for weekend conference games.  It’s during the week when a team may play one or two non-conference games that finding good pitching can be tricky.  That’s why Jamieson has employed a pitching rotation where pitchers throw one inning during the game.
