Gil Meche left in the middle of a four-run 4 th inning after his back stiffened up and the Royals went on the lose 8-1 in the second game of their four game series with Toronto.  Meche should be OK, but he’s certainly frustrated.

After the game, Meche said his back issues have been frustrating because he’s never had to deal with this in the past.  Meche said his arm felt great, but because he couldn’t use his hips, he wasn’t following through the way he needed.

Meche gave up back to back doubles, and was down 2-1, but had two outs with a runner on third when he ran into trouble giving up a walk and four straight singles, before finally being lifted.  By then the damage was done with the Jays scoring four.  They would add three more runs in the 8 th off Horacio Ramirez who has turned into the mop up guy.

The Royals managed just one run on six hits.  That’s been an issue again this season for the Royals…the hot and cold offense.  There hasn’t been much consistency.
