On Monday, Cardinals reliever Kyle McClellan battled out of a bases loaded jam in the 7 th .  On Tuesday, McClellan was called upon again and this time the Braves got to him as the Cardinals lost 2-1.

McClellan walked three batters in the inning 8 th , trying to protect a 1-0 lead for starter Kyle Lohse.  McClellan walked leadoff hitter Omar Infante who advanced to second on a sac bunt.  McClellan then walked Chipper Jones and struck out Casey Kotchman who McClellan got to fly out in the 7 th inning yesterday.  Then Jeff Francoeur walked and Matt Diaz delivered a single up the middle to score Infante and Jones.

That inning ruined a gutsy performance by Lohse who was battling a stomach ailment, but went out there and three six scoreless innings.  The Cardinal bats didn’t give much support to Lohse.  After Yadier Molina singled in the only run of the night, while extending his hitting streak to 12 games, the Cardinals managed just two more hits on the night.

Lohse was in line for his fourth win of the season which would have tied Pineiro.  Adam Wainwright returns to his home state where he’ll start the final game of this series tonight.
