Joel Pineiro won his third start of the season pitching the St. Louis Cardinals over the New York Mets 5-2 at Busch Stadium Wednesday night.
Pineiro tossed eight-plus innings giving up two runs on six hits to improve to 3-0 on the year. Albert Pujols had two hits and two RBI for the Cards while Ryan Franklin retired one batter in the ninth to notch his fourth save.
The Cardinals look for the series sweep this afternoon with Kyle Loshe starting agains Livan Hernandez.
