Kansas City Royals right-hander Zack Greinke and Texas second baseman Ian Kinsler were named as the American League Co-Players of the Week Monday.

Greinke went 2-0, with a 0.00 ERA in 14 innings during two starts for the first-place Royals last week. On April 25, he threw his first career complete game shutout while striking out 10 hitters against the Rangers. He compiled 19 strikeouts during the two outings and now leads the American League in that category with 26.

Greinke is 3-0 overall and has yet to allow a run this season in 20 innings. His scoreless streak extends to 34 innings over the last two seasons.

The weekly award is the first in Greinke’s career.
