The Chiefs cut former Missouri Tiger wide receiver Will Franklin after one season and Jeremy Maclin, last year’s all-purpose star for the Tigers will await his draft fate from his own living room on Saturday, April 25 th .

Franklin, who was a fourth round draft pick last year for the Chiefs appeared in 13 games and actually started a game late in the season against San Diego.  Franklin could never really catch on, pulling in just seven catches for 83 yards.

I thought Franklin may have a better opportunity this season with the Chiefs needing someone to back up Dwayne Bowe and Bobby Engram, but that wasn’t the case.  There are also reports the Chiefs rejected the Atlanta Falcons’ offer of the 55 th pick in the draft for veteran tight end Tony Gonzalez.

Jeremy Maclin, a projected first round selection, was not invited to attend the NFL’s Draft Day Central party in New York.  Most of the projected top picks are flown to New York where they put on the number one jersey of their new team and put that ridiculous looking team hat on their heads.  Anyway, Maclin will be staying at home in St. Louis on draft day.

I’ve seen mock drafts that have him anywhere from 6 th to 17 th with teams such as Cincinnati, Cleveland, Jacksonville, and Oakland all having needs or interest in Maclin.
