Max Ellison Jr. – a former Stoddard County sheriff’s deputy – spent 30 years in prison for kidnapping in Illinois.

He’s been living in Nixa since he was paroled from prison in 2007. Members of the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force arrested him Friday.

Ellison is charged with the 1979 beating death of Cape Girardeau antiques dealer Deborah Martin. Authorities say she was beaten, then pushed off the balcony of her home. Ellison is being held on $10 million bond.
