Kyle Davies pitched seven scoreless innings in hist first start of theseason and allowed only three hits, and the Royals came through with Coco Crisp’s dramatic two run homer in the top of the ninthinning, giving Kansas City a win of its first series of the season.

Both Davies and Sox starter John Danks gave up now runs and only three hits with Davies going seven and Danks six.  Oddly enough, both teams scored runs off the other’s closer.  In the 9th with a scoreless tie Alberto Callaspo doubled and then Crisp launched one into the right field seats. 

In the 9th, Joakim Soria came on to close.  Carlos Quentin’s first hit of the year was followed by ground balls fromJim Thome and Jermaine Dye, with Dye getting an RBI as Quentin scored.Paul Konerko drew a walk, and Royals third baseman Alex Gordon extendedthe inning when he misplayed Ramirez’s slow roller for a fieldingerror.But Soria fanned pinch-hitter Wilson Betemit for the final out.
