A former state representative has been found not guilty of sexual assault by a jury in Jefferson City.
Scott Muschany, who is from St. Louis County, had been accused of improperly touching a young, teen-age girl. Muschany’s trial began in Cole County Circuit Court yesterday. Jurors deliberated for four hours before returning acquitting Muschany.
The allegation stemmed from an incident that occurred during the legislative session last year. A state investigation began in May after the father of the girl called in a complaint to the child abuse hot line. Muschany decided against running for re-election and resigned from his seat late last year.
