Lubbock Christian University senior Jordan Hampton registered a game-high 19 points along with 14 rebounds to lead the No. 3-seeded Lady Chaps to a 57-51 win over No. 6-seeded William Woods University in first-round action at the 29 th Annual NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball National Championship.  

Hampton snapped a 31-31 tie early in the second half with a three-pointer that sparked a 9-0 run for Lubbock Christian, and the Lady Chaps led by at least three points over the William Woods Owls the rest of the way.  After the Owls pulled back to within three points at 41-38 with 7:13 remaining, Hampton put back her own miss, followed by another trey, giving Lubbock Christian a 46-38 lead less than a minute later.  When the Owls trimmed the margin back to three points with 4:29 left, Hampton made two of Lubbock Christian’s three straight baskets that pushed the lead back to nine points at 54-45 with 2:44 to play.  

Hampton led all scorers with her 19-point effort, and Bailey St. Clair added 15 points for Lubbock Christian, which overcame an 8-for-31 (26 percent) first-half shooting performance that sent the Lady Chaps into halftime trailing by a 26-25 margin. Lubbock Christian shot 41 percent (11-for-27) in the second half to finish at 33 percent (19-for-58) for the game.
