Lindenwood women’s ice hockey won its second straight ACHA Division I National Championship on Sunday with a 2-1 win over rival Robert Morris.
Lindenwood and Robert Morris were meeting for the fourth straight year in the national championship contest.

This year, neither team scored in the first two periods of a defensive battle.
A little over four minutes into the third period, Robert Morris scored the first goal of the game with a power play score. Lindenwood answered five minutes later when Mandy Dion scored off an assist from Lisa Moreau.

With less than two minutes to play, there was a scrum in front of the Robert Morris net and Moreau managed to poke in the game-winning score, with assists from Krystal Martin and Dion. Lindenwood then killed off the final 1:42 for its third national title in its six-year history.

The victory was Lindenwood third straight third period comeback in the tournament. Moreau was named the tournament MVP and goalie Becca Bernet, who made 26 saves in the championship game, was named second-team all-tournament. The Lady Lions finish their season with a 32-3-3 overall record.
